We have all seen the pictures of malnourished children flashing across our TV screens at one time or another. We have seen them so often that we subconsciously filter them before they disturb our consciousness. The Yashar Project heard the pleas, not of the television spokespersons, but the testimony of those who are concerned enough to take direct action. We were concerned enough to walk the streets, smell the stench and see the conditions which has led generations of children into the slow sinking quagmire of spiritual, social, and economic defeat.
It is our hope to provide nourishment to as many needy children as possible. We are operating in Kenya and providing over 20,000 meals each month with many need going un-met. It cost us $0.50 per day, $10.50 per month or $95 per year to feed one child two meals a day. Even at this level of support there are request for assistance which we unfortunately have to delay because of a lack of funding. Your contribution is essential in easing their need while helping to cultivate young minds and bodies.
Even the people whose hearts are open to helping their own, need help to help their own. These schools in the slums and rural areas are destitute … they are poor. They do not have the resources to feed every child who walks through their doors. Can you imagine leaving your home in the morning with little or nothing to eat, going to school with the hope of getting a meager meal of porridge for breakfast? Then maybe some rice or beans for lunch? Imagine, before you can get to the front of the queue hearing the words, “we have no more to give”.
Our hearts desire is always to provide help where help is needed and we are making a difference. The Yashar Project have started feeding programs to supplement the difference between what the locals provide and what they lack. Yet our efforts, as welcomed as they are, still fall short of what is needed. We need to feed more children and we need more people involved. We cannot do this without your help. You are the missing piece. Please give so that a child may eat tomorrow.
